Friday 56: Disruption by Jessica Shirvington

Friday 56 is a weekly event hosted by Freda’s Voice. It’s entertaining and doesn’t take long to participate. This will be my first Friday 56!

The Rules:

  • Pick a book (I’m using my current read).
  • Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader.
  • Find a sentence or two that grab you (no spoilers).
  • Post it.
  • Add your link here.

My book is Disruption by Danielle Paige.

“He smiled back, but it didn’t reach his eyes. I wondered briefly if anything ever made him really smile.

Once in position, we all turned on our Phera-tech. Everyone watched their bands with eagle eyes. Everyone but me. I was watching Quentin.” pg 56.

Here is the synopsis:

The heart-stopping first chapter in bestselling author Jessica Shirvington’s Disruption series. What if a microchip could identify your perfect match? What if it could be used against you and the ones you love?

Eight years ago, Mercer Corporation’s M-Bands became mandatory. An evolution of the smartphone, the bracelets promised an easier life. Instead, they have come to control it. Two years ago, Maggie Stevens watched helplessly as one of the people she loved most was taken from her, shattering her world as she knew it. Now, Maggie is ready. And Quentin Mercer – heir to the M-Corp empire – has become key to Maggie’s plan.

But as the pieces of her dangerous design fall into place, could Quentin’s involvement destroy everything she’s fought for? In a world full of broken promises, the ones Maggie must keep could be the most heartbreaking.

I am almost halfway through this book and while there are some flaws in the writing, I am really enjoying the story and the character interactions.

Did you participate in Friday 56 this week? Have you read Disruption?
